The Red Men kicked the 2010-11 dual meet season off with an exciting and demanding win over Hope College with a final score of 160-102. There were solid efforts all around as our Red Men won 9 of the 14 events, and junior Ryan Ortmann earned CCIW Swimmer of the week for his performances at the meet.

Ortmann helped lead Carthage to their first dual meet victory by notching two individual victories, as well as contributing to a sweep of the relay events for the Red Men. He won the 50 freestyle (21.80) and 100 freestyle (48.34), while also swimming on the 200 medley relay (21.08- free split) and 400 free relay (48.08- free split). Our Red Men had other multiple winners contributing to this win. Doug Schranck won the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, and 200 IM. Kyle Drake took the top spot in both the 200 backstroke, and 200 freestyle.

After a week of intense training, the Red Men continued their quest for a perfect dual meet season by taking down Lake Forest College with a final score of 153-97. The Red Men won 10 of the 14 events to beat the Forresters. Event winners were Ryan Ortmann in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, Kyle Drake in the 200 backstroke and 1000 freestyle, Doug Schranck in the 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly, Bob Pellican in the 100 backstroke, Blake Bendix in the 200 freestyle and Eric Ross in the 500 freestyle.

The Red Men will continue their campaign this weekend as we travel to Bloomington, IL to take on conference rival Illinois Wesleyan in our first away meet of the season.
