Jackson Oren Reeder - Class of 2029

Reports out of Northern Indiana are that the third member of Carthage's Class of 2029 has arrived. Jackson Oren Reeder, son of Justin ('07) and Dalila Reeder ('07?) checked in early this afternoon.

Regrettably, Jackson was subjected to the viewing of a Notre Dame game, but is an otherwise healthy 7.13 lbs and 21 inches. Reeder is one the greatest Red Men to never win an individual CCIW title. He came close a couple of times, but today it's clear he's got a winner.

Zach Steenrod - Class of 2029

Not sure if it's going to be breaststroke or distance, but there's little doubt that Zach Steenrod will be a swimmer. Says momma Kleprod, "unfortunately he has my appetite...He starts swim practices on Monday."

Zach is the latest in a long line of Carthage swimmers including parents Andy & Kelli, Uncles Chris Steenrod & Craig Klepel, Aunt Stacey Kiefer, and of course Grandpa Dave.

Levi Chapman - Class of 2029

It's with great excitement we welcome the next member of the Carthage Class of 2029 - Levi Chapman. There's no report from mother Erin as to which of Levi's kicks was best (flutter, breast or dolphin) but at 22.5" and 10 lbs 2 oz, Levi has the makings of a sprinter. Congrats to Erin and Nathaniel (our first Carthage All-American since 1978) and big brother Graeme (Carthage Class of 2027).

Kiefer Commits to Carthage Class of 2031

Somers, WI - Carthage College men's swimming coach Greg Earhart today announced the signing of River Jeremy Kiefer to swim for Carthage beginning in 2027.

Kiefer, who was born earlier this week, is the son of Robin and Stacey ('02) Kiefer, brother of Ginger ('27) and great grandson of Olympic Gold-Medalist Adolph Kiefer.

"We do a lot of scouting of recruits and our staff really feel that River was the best available swimmer graduating in 2027." explained Earhart. "Add in his family history at Carthage [mother, Uncle Andy, Aunt Kelli, uncle Craig, and Casey Griffiths (who must be related in some way) all swam at Carthage] and we felt he would become an impact player."

He is believed to be the youngest-ever recruit to commit to any collegiate program. Last month, Michael Avery, an eighth grader from Thousand Oaks, California committed to play basketball for Kentucky. That factored into Carthage's recruitment of the infant.

"With the trend towards earlier and earlier college commitments, we felt we needed to pull the trigger early," explained Earhart.

When asked to comment, River Kiefer drooled.
