February 3, 2008

A great day for the Red Men. We swam some new events. We recognized our senior Chris Trella. We unveiled a cool new banner. We swam a ton of great times. Oh yeah, and we won the meet.

Actually it wasn't much of a race. The only team close to our 345 points was our women's team with 331. The next closest was Carroll college with 87 points.

Some quick highlights:
* Trella anchoring the winning 200 medley, 200 free and 800 free relays, the last of which came within a whisker of the meet recordk
* Blake and Bax going 1:50's in the 200 free (26th and 27th on the all-time list);
* Derek Schneider joining the top times list in the 100 breast (15th) and 200 fly (9th).
* Bob Pellican and Nathan Ripley's 100 freestyles;
* Bax making a run at the 100 fly record and leading a 1-5 finish with a big-time unrested lifetime best.
* Tommy Stowe winning the 400 I'M over our sprint crew of Bax (2nd) and Bryce (3rd)
* Chris Steenrod going nine seconds under is best unrested mile.

All in all a great tune up for the conference meet in 252 hours.

Check back for meet photos when I can get to a real computer.
