March 20, 2008

Today was the start of the Men's 2008 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. It was not however the start of our journey. We left sunny Kenosha hoping to have as pleasant weather for our spring break experience with "spring time in Oxford." The weather was unfortuneatley not on our side as flooding was a scare all across the midwest. It was however on Kyle's, not only does he enjoy the weather, he came prepared in his flip flops (as he always does) while our socks got wet though our shoes, especially Bryce's holey 3 year old shoes. We had a couple of days to get used to the pool, hotel, and each other. Finally the meet started today and although we only had Bryce in the 50 there was some other amazing swimming. Westby's 200 IM was dominating winning by a second and a half and a meet record in the 50 by William's Alex Sweet certainly got us pumped up for our swims tomorrow.

Bryce has the 100 fly where we hope to see our team record dip under 50 for the first time. Drake and I will square off in the first heat of the 400 IM before we each take a 100 in our stroke of choice. Being in the first heat could be disapointing, but it will give us a chance to not worry about anyone else since we know how each other swims and we will have the advantage of not worrying about how anyone else has swam. With the 100 breast coimng up quick I will also have a little extra time. I am excited to get some swims in finally getting a full taper and shave and see what I can do. We have spent too much time sitting around and not enough swimming so hopefully after some more swims we will have something more exciting to tell everyone, hopefully my parents middle of the night drive goes well and I can't wait to see them.

Love to everyone out there reading this and thanks for following along.
Steve on behalf of Bryce and Kyle
